A brief history of gobelins
Word tapestry is derived from the ancient Greek word "tapes" meaning a carpet, but it more commonly describes a heavy cloth with decorative art designs and picture textile interpretation.
In Europe the oldest tapestries are those of German origin (Halberstadt) dated in the XII th century.
At the beginning of the Middle Ages tapestry art was developed especially in Flandra and France, the epoch of apogee being that of Renaissance.
Gobelin is a tapestry form of art that was born in the XV th century, when Jean Gobelin and Philibert Gobelin set up a dye works on the outskirts of Paris.
The tapestries displayed pastoral scenes, floral designs, animals, decorative objects, garlands, conventional geometric ornamental motifs, Christian emblems.
Framing the gobelin
First of all we need a piece of plywood the same dimensions of sewn picture .We put the plywood on gobelin' s back and the brim unsewned must be glued on plywood ' s back . Of course we must be very carrefully because the texture lines must be straight and parallel on long and on broad. After that we put the glass in the frame and finally the gobelin wich must be fixed with small nails on the frame.

Washing and ironing gobelins
To washing gobelins we use lukewarm water to remove the dirt end for refreshing the colors and elimnating the tension acumulated during the sewing time.Drying time the gobelin must be straight well and when it's almost dry we put on gobelin back a with thinly cotton tissue and after that we can ironing the gobelin carefully.
